ABOUT

My PhD in Social Psychology from The Graduate Center, CUNY was conferred in February 2024. My research broadly explores inequality and intergroup relations, with an interest in mechanisms that might lead to political and social change of differing hierarchies, particularly through the lens of politics, race, and disability. My primary line of research investigates how interpersonal gratitude might affect political and racial attitudes via differing mechanisms, such as the reduction in perceptions of relational or general uncertainty, or processes related to social tuning. I hope to integrate this with other lines of research on the psychology of leftism and political discussions between different racial and political groups in the face of increasing racial diversity. While in the preliminary stages, I am also working on developing a model of physical disability prejudice, understanding different conditions for intra-minority solidarity and coalitions between low status racial groups and low status differently abled groups, and with other members of the Disability Advocacy and Research Network (DARN), a project on how disability is reported and discussed in major psychological journals.
